The report meticulously details the session's in-depth analyses of 25 key topics, including climate financing, renewable energy, and sustainable tourism. These sessions witnessed contributions from over 90 experts spanning the public, private, and non-profit sectors. The diverse topics ranged from energy entrepreneurship and water security to innovation in agriculture, energy efficiency, and REDD+.
Significant contributions came from various influential organizations, including the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, UNIDO, Mekong Strategic Capital, and the National Bank of Cambodia. Representatives from the Ministry of Environment, FTB, and multiple foreign embassies were key contributors to CCCS23.
Australia, as an official partner of CCCS23, played a critical role in supporting the summit through its Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) program. Andreas Zurbrugg, Australian Charge d'affaires, underscored the summit's role as a dynamic platform for addressing Cambodia's pressing climate change issues. He noted, “The report stands as a testament to the collective efforts of stakeholders across sectors and provides valuable insights on Cambodia’s climate action."
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as a founding partner, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), as a gold sponsor, were instrumental in the summit's success. SDC notably hosted the Sustainable Solutions Expo, a first for the summit, allowing attendees to interact with visionary businesses and organizations.
Silver sponsors like Oxfam, Kosher Climate, and UN FAO, along with bronze sponsors Heineken and Forte Insurance, added to the summit's rich tapestry of perspectives.
Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, stressed the critical nature of climate change and the urgent need for action. The U.S. Ambassador, W. Patrick Murphy, and Australia's Ambassador, Justin Whyatt, also highlighted the event's significance in the context of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28).
Neak Okhna Sear Rithy, Chairman of the Mekong Future Initiative which co-organized CCCS23, remarked that addressing climate change is crucial for the future of children, the nation, and the world.
